Please tell me

I was on my way to the post office when I saw it. I have to admit that I was slightly horrified. When I was a young girl I thought it would be the best thing ever but I learned, not by experience, that it was not for me. What was it you ask? The Crystal Gayle hair cut, I guess I should call it a "style" since there is no cutting involved. A woman was crossing the street with hair that was down to her knees! It just isn't right. What does she do when it rains and your shoes kick up a bit of spray when you walk? Does she have to wind it all up on her head? Does she put it into a giant bun? Why hasn't someone told her that it isn't cool to have your hair that long? No one knows who Crystal Gayle is anymore.

Then I started to worry that my hair is too long. It is down to my lower back. Ever since I saw this woman I have been thinking about cutting my hair. No, I won't cut it above my shoulders but I do need to get it cut. Please tell me if my hairstyle ever reminds you of Crystal Gayle.

I Thought We Were Addicted...

So what happened? Can you say, "Do it yourself home remodel?"

I can.

My parents own a home that is 104 years old and I had dedicated many, many hours to help them with the remodel. It started out as a simple project because the kitchen sink started to have a bad odor that would not go away. That kitchen drain project lead to replacing the water main line to the house, construction of an new second bathroom, remodeling a bedroom then the office and remodeling of the home's original bathroom.

The job is not finished because we have two new doors that need to be hung, installation of the mop boards and touching up paint in some areas. Let's not even mention that there are still plans to remodel the laundry room and the possible addition of a family room. The thought of more construction makes me a bit tired. Oh well. It has been nice to have my evening free for the last couple of months but I am so happy that my parents' home is so much more comfortable and relaxing.

Two years have almost passed since we began the project. They have been two difficult years but satisfying that we were able to do almost all of the work on our own. There have been some people that guided us that I hope got a gold star next to their name so that good karma will bless them when they are in need such as we were.

My hope is that my addiction will now be redirected back to you.

Hopes of Spring

I was out running errands today and was overwhelmed by how beautiful our mountain was today. This picture doesn't do justice to what I really saw. The contrast between the blue sky and the pure white snow was wonderful.

It has been so cold lately that I just do not want to go outside. Spring needs to come quickly but when I see the mountain covered with snow and the sky is blue and no smog can be seen I feel happy. It makes me think that I can make until the mountain changes from white to green and the leaves start to pop out every where. Soon the crocuses will poke their tiny little heads out of the ground to help the rest of us preapre for spring.

But for now, there is no spring only the glistening white snow on my mountain. I will take what I can get. . . for a few more weeks anyway.

Buns of Steel, Apparently Not!

First thing I noticed was the "WITH LESS AEROBICS" line. I HATE aerobics! I decided to do this retro VHS workout anyway. I can't walk now. Thanks, Greg Smithey and your Buns of Steel.

P.S. - Kim pointed out who Greg Smithey resembles....Chuck Norris!

Happy Martin Luther King, Jr. Day!

I look to a day when people will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character. -Martin Luther King, Jr.
